LHS Counseling Connections - April

LHS Counseling Connections
April kicks off with something we all need—time to rest, reset, and recharge—hello, spring break!
Spring naturally brings a sense of renewal—longer days, warmer weather (sometimes), and new energy—which makes it a good time to check in with ourselves and those around us.
April brings some great reminders along with it—it’s Stress Awareness Month, which makes it the perfect time to take a step back from the day-to-day, focus on yourself, build healthy coping skills, and keep self-care a priority (especially as things get busy). It’s also National School Library Month, a great reminder that the library can be a calm, supportive space to learn, recharge, or just take a breather during the day.

As you enjoy spring break, take advantage of the extra time you have to rest, recharge, and engage in activities that you enjoy—whether that’s spending time outdoors, connecting with family and friends, going on a fabulous vacation, or simply sleeping in or unplugging for a bit. Hopefully, after spring break, we'll be ready to channel our renewed energy into school and hit the ground running to finish the year strong!

Wishing everyone a safe, relaxing, and refreshing spring break!

ANNOUNCEMENT: New Healthcare Pathway Partnership starting 2026-27
We are excited to announce a new partnership for our Healthcare Pathways. Beginning next year, we will be partnering with KLR Medical Certification Training School to offer the following healthcare pathways:
  • Certified Clinical Medical Assisting (CCMA)

  • Dental Careers

  • Pharmacy Careers

  • Veterinary Sciences

KLR Medical Certification Training School provides high school students with accessible, career-focused healthcare training through virtual instruction, hands-on experience, and work-based learning to prepare them for industry-recognized certifications and entry into the healthcare workforce.

This 2-year program generally begins in 11th grade (for certain programs, seniors can sign up for one year - current 11th graders who are interested should check with Mrs. Wenning before registering). Students who register for these programs will take classes in the afternoons virtually (via Zoom) with KLR instructors and will meet in person once a month for hands-on lab work.

In addition to completing coursework and labs, KLR will facilitate work-based learning rotations for our students to help them get real-world work experience in their pathway.

More detailed information and a permission form can be found by clicking this link: KLR Information/Permission Form.
To register, please complete the permission form linked above by May 1, and return it to the guidance office. Copies of the form are also available in the guidance office.

SAT School-Day Scores

SAT Scores from our March test will be available to students starting on April 2!

Juniors who took the SAT with us in March can access their scores via their College Board account or the BigFuture App beginning on April 2. Students who provided a mobile phone number during the exam setup should receive a text when their score reports are available to view!

Students who do not have College Board accounts can register on the College Board website. If you have an account but for some reason cannot access it, you can call College Board customer service at 866-315-6068.

To help you understand your SAT score report, here are a couple of resources:
