Lapel High School 2025-26 Summer Newsletter
Lapel High School is extremely excited to welcome back our student body for the upcoming 2025-26 school year! We are committed to providing a safe and welcoming environment to all of our stakeholders. With that being said, we will continue to build upon programs that we have implemented over the last few years in an effort to create an atmosphere that is not only conducive to learning, but also focuses on fostering positive relationships among students, staff, parents, and community members.
A few years ago, Lapel High School created a PBIS (positive behavioral interventions and supports) program based on our Bulldog PRIDE acronym: Perseverance, Respect, Integrity, Dependability, and Empathy. We not only encourage teachers to recognize students who display these attributes, but we also celebrate and champion these employability skills on a daily basis to ensure that our students are marketable in today’s workforce. Just last year, Frankton-Lapel Community Schools implemented a work-based learning program across our district, fully embracing the Department of Education’s diploma redesign, which allows students the flexibility to personalize their educational journey and gain valuable 21st-century skills such as time management, communication, and teamwork. As a result, Lapel High School students will continue to have a unique opportunity to gain employment and build connections with over 40 local businesses that our WBL program has partnered with over the last year.
We will also continue our senior service learning projects this upcoming school year. This endeavor was spearheaded a couple of years ago by our guidance department, along with the help of our teachers. This program was created to not only help our seniors complete their graduation requirements, but more importantly, to instill a sense of altruism among our seniors as they work diligently to give back to our community. The culminating event this past school year was our first-ever carnival for Riley Children’s Hospital, which raised nearly $5,000!
We are also excited to continue sharing our student and staff spotlights with our community. With that being said, Lapel High School would like to welcome our newest faculty member, Mr. Jason McCalley! Mr. McCalley is a familiar face around Lapel High School and many of you will recognize him due to his previous stint in our English Department, where he taught for 10 years. We are thrilled to welcome him back to the field of education and to our Lapel High School faculty.
Finally, Lapel High School would also like to announce some important dates to put on your calendar. The office will reopen on July 28th and new student registration will take place on Wednesday, July 30th, from 12:00-8:00 p.m. and from 8:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 31st. In addition, new student orientation will be on Monday, August 4th. We would also like to invite everyone out to our 3rd annual Festival on the Field on Saturday, October 4th, starting at 6:00 p.m. Lastly, Lapel High School would like to wish everyone a healthy and happy school year when we start back on Wednesday, August 6th!
