Parent-Teacher Conferences & Synchronous/Live eLearning Day Information
Good afternoon everyone! I hope this email finds you well. As you already know by now, Lapel High School will be having in-person Parent-Teacher Conferences on Thursday, October 16th, from 1:00-7:00 p.m. in the Commons. We ask that you enter door #1 and then you will proceed to pick up your student's report card at the table set up in the Commons. In addition, we will also be conducting a Synchronous/Live eLearning day on Friday, October 17th, from 8:00-11:00 a.m. As a reminder, synchronous learning means that instruction will be delivered live and in real-time to students by their teachers. With that being said, students should expect their teachers to share a link in Google Classroom for the live session and teachers should expect their students to log on (virtually) during the live lesson. The schedule for classes will consist of 20 minute periods with a five minute break for transitioning between classes. Students will need to change links to change periods.
The expectation is for all students to be active participants during their twenty minute period. However, we realize there could be any number of issues that arise that might prevent students from "attending" their live classes. With that being said, teachers will be recording their live classrooms and subsequently posting those recordings in their Google Classrooms, which will be available to be viewed at a later time. In addition, should a conflict occur that prevents the student from logging on to his/her classroom, it is imperative that the teacher be informed right away. In closing, please see the attachment below for the Synchronous eLearning Day Schedule and do not hesitate to contact the office or any teacher should you have questions or concerns moving forward. I will thank you in advance for your patience and cooperation for our upcoming Synchronous eLearning Day on Friday, October 17th and we hope to see everyone at our Parent-Teacher Conferences on Thursday, October 16th. Enjoy the remainder of your day!
